ROYAL BONN GERMANY FRANZ ANTON MEHLEM HAND PAINTED COVERED URN
A late 19th century or early 20th century, Franz Anton Mehlem Earthenware Factory, Bonn, Rhineland, Germany, hand-painted and transfer decorated earthenware covered urn. Pedestal has an octagonally-shaped foot; body is ovoid-shaped with flared rounded sides and a rounded shoulder that tapers to a low slightly flared rounded collar which receives the urn's domed lid. The lid is surmounted by a knob-like finial. The front and back of the urn is decorated with a hand-painted transfer floral bouquet accented in pink, yellow, and shades of green on a shaded green background. Marked with red manufacturer's trademark (circa 1890 to 1920) along with an impressed trademark, also impressed "1310/3/DG."
Measures 12 3/4 inches high with lid. In good condition with some wear to the paint around the shoulder. [Note: This factory is noted for making the china case of Ansonia clocks.]
